So I did go with a pop of color, but not the red like I was thinking. As I was picking out spraypaint this color caught my eye and well, i'm a little teal happy. What do you think, is it too much? {Don't look at my dirty fireplace...} It's quite extreme, so the husband may not lone it when he gets home. It's not exactly a manly color is it?
Also, a little trick I picked up from an hgtv episode that I think is brilliant:
Coffee beans as a candle holder. I bought a bag of hazelnut and now every time I walk in my kitchen I smell coffee. If you like that sort of thing it's perfect. It's like living in a Starbucks, but like a mini not-as-overwhelming Starbucks, the Target version. Mmm.

i just saw these pics on flickr, and i came over here to see...i LOVE it! i wasn't really feeling the red, but definitely thought you should do some kind of color. love it.
Love the coffee bean candle idea! My kitchen is coffee themed, so maybe I'll do something like that with a red candle in the middle...nothing like the smell of coffee.
LOVE!
Oh, and speaking of Target, it is supposed to come to Canada in 2012!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited! They bought out a Canadian chain called Zellar's, and will be converting them to Targets!!!!!
This is great!! love the coffee bean idea, I'm totally copying that!!:0) Love the mirror, kind of ties in the teal in your kitchen!
i seriously can't believe this. i was going to suggest a dark teal, jewel tone, and thought it was dumb. i actually thought about it a few times and thought you might humor me and be all, "yeah that might work" while thinking i'm crazy. we are SO on the same page.
the teal works great. I like the "pop" of color. Love the coffee bean idea too, and love the smell of coffee. I might have to do that...
