spitting up in style

kelly_gift.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

it's a curse this sewing addiction. i can't send a gift to someone without wanting to personalize it. {case-in-point: the in-pieces diaper bag my ready-to-pop-cousin won't receive in time. how does 9 months fly by so fast?}

these burp cloths are right up my alley, simple and quick and yet really cute. i picked up the little knitted hat cause we all know i don't need another addiction {i'm leaving knitting to the pros}. but i did secure the little elephant button on there for extra hotness. it was just too cute to not use.

so hopefully she wasn't lying when she said she liked it all, thanks kelly! {and kendall}

i can feel it

nyc_bridge.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

it's plausable. possible. definately do-able. nyc is this huge scary place to be, until you live there. on saturday you walk the dog and do your laundry. you'll watch a movie then clean the rediculously small apartment. on sunday you grab breakfast around the corner and bask in the pleasure that is free parking for an entire day. you'll grocery shop at the store on the corner with your miniatured aisles and skinny carts and unhappy cashiers.

you watch the pretty people live their lives and you think, yeah, we could do this. and then you remember, you don't have a job. or a dog.

the etsy shop

is no more. JK!! i'm taking my stash with me to CT this weekend, so if anyone's interested shoot me an email and i'll send you my cell number....anything that hasn't sold will be up in the shop on tuesday when i get back.

heading to nyc tomorrow! if you could do only one touristy thing in nyc, what would it be? we're taking a friend who's never been, and we want to do at least one fun thing while checking out our potential new neighborhoods....

have a stellar weekend.

groovin' with chuck.

scarf_podcover.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

i have the best pregnant cousin ever. who sends me belated gifts a lot. but it's good, because just when you're not expecting it, you get this big box full of goodies just for you. she even knitted me the softest green scarf/hat combo. AND this book! full of inspiration, really beautiful, i wish i had more time to sew or redecorate my entire house or move to arizona.

and check out the new ipod cover for the new ipod, chuck. i don't know why, but all my ipods are guys. and ones with pretty unimaginative names at that.

brooklyn anyone? heading out tomorrow morning to check out the neighborhood. is it selfish to want a killer apartment with free parking in a trendy area with a grocery store/farmers market in walking distance? i don't think so....impossible maybe, but not selfish.

{ps: one must not go to bed at 1am or eat frozen enchilladas the day of/after being off sick. well, it's not recommended anyway...}

shop update for this chilly morning

shop_update.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

well, it's chilly here. anyway, some cute things i've been meaning to put up for a week now. valentines day earrings, some super awesome tiny rings, more pendants, ect...check it out if you want to waste some time at work. you know you do.

ok, so the ipod problem. i'm going to wait on the laptop {seriously? yes.}, i really like the idea of moving to the city with zero debt. that's right i said it, zero bills. so why would i want to magically create a 2,000 dollar credit card bill? no thanks.

for now i'll buy mac leopard {which by the way is so awesome, i can't wait to get it} and maybe update the ram and capacity of my G5 tower. then i can use my new fancy ipod. and the hundred dollars i saved on the ipod will go toward the purchase of leopard, so it's really a wash but i get a new ipod and awesome new running system out of the deal. tragedy overted!

{ok, so it's not a tragedy really, just a wee bit of stress, really must remember there are people who have actual tragedies happen to them all the time which makes me and all my whining seem so very small. apologies...}

egads steve jobs

why must you make it so difficult for me to enjoy my new ipod awesomeness?

so my new ipod won't work with my system. seriously. leave it to me to forget to check the running system requirements when i purchased the new whammer jammer ipod. that's one plus to having an old ipod and old computer, they were made for each other and they play nice and slow together.

it's been time to update the ol' G5 for a while now, but i've been putting it off for one reason or another. i guess now's as good a time as any to bring her down to the apple store and have her cleaned up and pimped out. or do i just bite the bullet and pick up the macbook pro i've been wanting sooo bad. the point was to get a big pay increase in nyc and buy it then BUT why wait, no?

i don't know what to do. i hate this kind of stuff, i cringe at big ticket purchases. until then my shiny new toy will have to wait in it's shiny new box. boo.

i'll follow you down

i'm waiting. for some very fun. packages. arriving today. or tomorrow. one in particular. makes my heart jump. up and down and groove. to the tune of happiness. any guesses?

contest winner, woot woot.

me_scarf.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

and the weiner is: elizabeth from 'oh fransson!'...yay! {she's the inventor of that nifty little doorstop tutorial i want to try asap. i'm guessing our brooklyn loft will definately need to have cute doorstops hanging around...}

anyway, it IS a patchwork scarf. i've seen these things all over the crafty blog community lately and i wanted to try my own sans pattern. so i did and it was so simple. it still needs all the finishing stitched BUT priorities, priorities {you know, the BIG MOVE, are you sick of hearing about it yet?}. the back is a recycled old blanket that is so soft and warm. i can't wait to make another! these will definately make the cut for homemade christmas gifts next year, or is it too early to start thinking about next christmas?

so thanks for playing everyone! elizabeth, email me at tinkerellen@yahoo.com with your shipping info please....

left right, left right, delurk, delurk, left right....

well a fun little fact i discovered over at galloping cows today: january 10th is official delurker day! oh crap, today's the 11th.

well anyway, delurk lurkers, show your face, leave a comment! or i'll be forced to call you mean and nasty names....

ok, not really, but all the newbies will be entered to win a set of earrings for the big V-day! just let me know if it's your first time commenting and what you like/ dislike about the blog...good luck and happy delurking...

it's not all sewing and crafting, you know.

History_logo.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

here's a logo for our upcoming snow camp. i really like this one. we're going with a boot camp theme so i wanted the shirts to look army-ish. i think i did ok, hopefully the kids like them. so next weekend we'll be trying to stay warm while sledding and tubing and generally smashing each others faces in the snow....if we get any by then.

crafty listy

what i wish i was home making instead of being stuck in front of a computer at work:

chenille baby bibs
coffee cozies
water bottle carrier
patchwork coasters
rice heat therapy bags
patchwork door stop

new you new do.

me_multiple.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

ok, i know i'll regret posting 8 pictures of my pale mug as soon as i hit the 'post entry' button, but i'll have to get over it.

i want a new look. i love number 4 but it'll take about 3 years to get there. i also love number 2 but i have no idea how to get that look beside employing a stylist to arrive at my house every morning before i head to work. which is pretty much not an option considering i live in the land of overalls, oh, and i'm not disgustingly rich.

anyway, what do you think? should i suck it up and keep growing the mop on my head until i can actually make an honest-to-goodness ponytail, or should i dare to be spicey like posh?

sit up straight!

IMG_0256_flower.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

it feels like spring, no?

busy busy over here. more people looking at the house, more boxes ready for storage and more clothes and shoes donated to happy loving friends! potential buyer for the subaru and oh yeah, i have scoliosis. so it's frequent visits to the chiropractor for the next month or so. in the meantime, there'll be less bending over the sewing machine for me. too bad i just ordered 'bend the rules sewing'. ironic, don't you think?

organized. sort of.

so downsizing from a four-bedroom house to a one-bedroom apartment is no small task. i've been putting it off until after Christmas, mainly because it seems so very overwhelming. BUT i finally sat down yesterday and made up some lists {i'm a list kind of girl}. rooms to clean, items to sell, where to store bins, etc. i feel like i can actually get a handle on it all come this weekend. {when i would rather be out shopping and using my Christmas gift cards.}

but my favorite most ingenius list would have to be the 'bin catalog list'. this is where i'll catalog everything in a storage bin and assign that bin a number. that way i can easily locate a stored connecticut item from my cozy leetle couch in nyc at a glance. is that not brilliant?!? yeah. i thought so too.

a leetle shop update!

shop_update0102.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

but i'm really excited about it because i'm putting some tissue holders up for sale! i really love mine and i'm glad i figured out a better way to make them. speaking of, i'll have a tutorial for sale in the shop soon as well, then you can make them for every single person you know.

because everyone needs one. seriously. {and i'll be giving a tutorial away to one lucky weiner. or maybe two...}

so check it yo.le shop.

and now back to your regularly scheduled life

we're back from vacation. although, i think racking up 1,100 miles on your subaru hardly counts as vacation.

lots of good times with family and friends and you know what, not that many pictures! i vowed this trip to spend less time behind the camera and more time taking mental pictures. i got to chill with the infamous logorrhea. spent most of the morning trying to track down a fabric store which we eventually did, spent lots of christmas money there and then finished it all off with some delicious pizza. {we missed you sarah!}

didn't go to brooklyn like we wanted to, but i think we've narrowed down where we want to live, well, sort of. did i tell you we have to move by the end of march? so basically we have lots to do. lots. and lots and lots. and then lots more.

here's to 2008, may you be our busiest, craziest funnest year yet.
