no mom, it's not me

but i did get a chance to take pictures of the lucky mom-to-be who is miraculously not on bed rest anymore. doesn't she look amazing? i would have posted one of the better pictures, you know, one with a head BUT i might have heard it mentioned that she was worried i might do that...

yes i asked

if i could blog his 'wound' and he said i could. i think he's quite proud of the thing. i'm sure he'll be showing it off to everyone in CT this weekend, so consider yourselves warned.

the problem was really just this little collection of veins that intertwined together and started growing. it was ugly, really, but he liked it, and i was the one that had to push him to have it removed {for good this time}. SO the doctor was super thorough and the result is a five inch scar-to-be.

don't be fooled though, he's not sad about it all. he's very much being a boy about this and mainly it's just 'cool'.

gifted

so this was the project i was so diligently working on. a baby quilt! i gave it to the happy recipient today, and he acted as happy as a man could when receiving a hot pink handmade blanket. this gift was surprisingly easy although time consuming, but i didn't do any of that fancy quilting stitching...(the other side is a soft fleecy fabric and those dark dark squares are velvet.)

honestly i loved this project, the soft stuffed blocks were just for fun and they're filled with 100% cotton batting which wasn't nearly as much as i thought it would be. if you're ever in nyc, check out 'the city quilter' since i bought most of my supplies there and they have a pretty decent selection of fabrics. that's my version of a shout out.

and a new umbrella

(i swear i'm about done with my project from the last entry...i'll post pictures soon.) in the meantime i thought i'd show you my new spring coat. that i found for 20 dollars. isn't that crazy? yeah i thought so too. and here i thought i would have to save up for a few weeks to get one i liked.

also, i slammed my fingernail between two kitchen cabinets tonight (ouch) AND on sunday i pulled a muscle working out so my shoulder is killing me. basically i'm a wreck this week. and i need a haircut, bad. and a color, cause now i have red hair, brown roots and gray highlights. it's just sad really. i used to be so cute.

this turned into a ramble of incoherent thoughts. i apologize. as you were...

dear mom - this is how you wear your pashmina

(i wear mine primarily as the third option, but mostly because it's nice and warm to have all that material snug against your neck and chin.)

in other news, i apologize that there hasn't been much to talk about. I've been slowly easing out of winter, no thanks to the gloomy cold day today. I'm ready for summer, but then again, who's not. and we have an invitation for easter back home in syracuse and although i can't wait to go, i know it'll be close to 30ยบ and probably snowing.

the city's starting to come alive too. more and more people are walking about, tourists are walking slower and the film industry is starting to park it's trailers everywhere. just yesterday i saw jay mohr, the guy from gary unmarried. you'd know him if you saw him.

and here's the other thing, i've been sucked into the twilight series. it's all fun and games until someone loses their soul...muwahahaa. anyway, it's been fun even if the books aren't THAT great. i was able to spend the night joking and laughing with some girls from work. it's been a while since i've had a girl's night that didn't involve driving or flying somewhere, so it was fantastic to say the least. and i'm quite proud of my growing knowledge of the public transportation system. i'm feeling more and more at home here every day. we may not choose to live here for the rest of our lives but it's nice to know we could.

bonneville

i finally got to see the husband's new toy! he hasn't picked it up and brought it into the city yet because it hasn't really been warm enough to ride, but the guy storing it was nice enough to bring it over for a visit today. it's perty, although i'm still nervous about a motorcycle in big city traffic.

what say ye?

good news all around

a friend of ours who was on excruciatingly constrictive bed rest just found out today {at her doctors} that she can return to having a perfectly normal pregnancy! this is such a huge HUGE answer to prayer. i'm really excited for her, so i wanted to share the good news. and she's having twins!!

in other slightly good news, it looks as if finding a new apartment may be easier than we think! keep praying though, since we really really want to lower our monthly expenses AND perhaps {if it's not asking TOO much} get a bigger place.

and i'm so glad everyone's getting their packages i mailed out. even the one headed for new zealand should be arriving any day now!

this gloomy rainy day is getting sunnier by the minute...

over the futon remote holder

to match the new spring-ified pillows.

i can't wait for a bigger apartment so we can have a real couch like grown-ups. for now i'm taking a sick day on the bachelor pad futon. luckily the remotes are handy...

call me back in june

by far this is the biggest storm we've gotten this winter. and i'm ok with that, because this is kiddy stuff compared to the snow pit they call upstate ny. BUT a lot of the city was quiet this morning, the majority of commuters deciding to sit this one out, although the trains are surprisingly efficient in inclement weather. i was somewhat impressed.

today would be a perfect day to sit inside, drink hot cocoa and play wii! (hey, maybe i don't like the reliable mass transit after all...)
