out with the old

method.jpg, originally uploaded by tinkerellen.

in with the non-toxic. i've long been wanting to switch out all our cleaning supplies with all-natural or non-toxic supplies. i found some info to make them all myself, but really, like i need to add something else onto my list of projects...

so after a trip to target lastnight i loaded up with mostly method supplies {not sure that they are indeed all-natural but they are non-toxic and bio-degradable...} and some seventh generation cleaner. they're surprisingly affordable, and all the method cleaners smell awesome. the stainless steel wipes work great, i thought i would just get them for my fridge but i was cleaning all the outlet plates and appliances in our house, love it. and their wood dusting/polishing spray is indeed phenominal. my furniture has never smelled or looked so good.

i also loved the fact that i didn't feel like i needed a shower after i cleaned the shower.

hey, does anyone have a natural solution for getting rid of soap scum. like the hardened around your sink faucet kind of scum?

I love the wood cleaner. It's my fav. Really the only thing that has worked for me for soap scum/hard water is Melaleuca Tub & Tile cleaner. The Method stuff didn't do jack.

but seriously, where would you find that stuff?

My cousin is a Meleleuca rep. I don't think they sell it in stores - only through reps. I've pretty much determined (like you) to go non-toxic/non-harmful when I return to my homeland, and fill my cleaning bucket with Meleleuca stuffs.

I have a membership with them. You can order only online.

For a cheap disinfectant you can use a solution of vinegar and water. Doesn't smell the greatest though, especially if you are pregnant and smells bother you, but you don't have to worry about that! It is also good to wash your fruits and veggies in to get the sprays and germs off them. We also try to use natural things, organic, whole, etc.

I used Kaboom to get the soap scum off and then used the Method Daily Shower Spray after that. It made a HUGE difference.

Dawn dishsoap (diluted with water in a spray bottle) is really good, too. It's also cheaper.
