organize it pretty
But not just pretty, it's a huge space-saver. I had to do some touch-ups to my kitchen door the other day, and I had a heck of a time getting the rusted shut cover off. I saw a tip a while back and decided it was time to implement it. So I bought some plastic mixing bottles from walmart for $2 a piece and filled them with leftover room paints. I labelled each container with the color, finish and room details using the new Martha Stewart kraft labels from Staples. Now I have an easy way to grab a color for quick touch-ups and those nasty cans won't be knocking around in my basement work bench anymore...

I've had them for a couple of years now and this system is still working great. Clean the tops off before snapping them closed for storage...
I read a post about covering open paint cans with plastic wrap prior to hammering down the lid and then storing upside down. The hint maintained that this would keep the paint from drying out. I think I'll look for some plastic bottles that can be stored upside down. I love your idea.

I started using mason jars to store leftover paint. Put plastic wrap over top of jar before putting lid on.
Great Idea. You can also get Lowes to print you an extra label if it's a color they have to mix for you.

I wonder would these containers hold up if they were in the garage? Its a warm in there!!!

Try starting here. There are several sizes, packs.
It is possible that paint is sold in cans and opaque buckets so that the pigment is not affected by exposure to light. Would suggest if storing in see through containers, that they are stored in a dark place.

Thanks for the suggestion. Most of my colors are light and stored in the basement so I haven't had a problem. They've also been stored this way for over four years and still no dry paint!!
