This is just a slight glimmer of the helplessness the hurricane victims are feeling. It's a horrible feeling. To be completely subject to something out of your control.
On a positive note, friends and I were worried about an old college friend living in the Louisiana area. We've finally heard from him, he and his family are fine, luckily there was minimal damage to their houses.

This weekend I hung out with the Secret Service. Those guys are a bunch of foul-mouthed drinkers. Luckily, Heather and I each bagged one and got a free place to stay. Oh the cockroaches... I'm going to start biking it. It should only take me about 7 hours to get to class. On a day without snow. Dang.
In other unrelated news, my husband just found out he'll be gone much of the month of September. Which is both good and bad. If I want to go to NYC anytime next month I have a free and probably fabulous place to stay. If I don't, the possibility of me having sex for the month is slim.
