the one, the awesome, the stamped shirt

here's one of the fun projects i came up with this weekend. it kind of developed off my screen-printing attempt. i picked up some fabric paint at the sto', they had colors other than black, and the colors can be mixed to customize whatever color you're looking for. then i grabbed my clear stamps which you all know i adore {even more now}. i spread the fabric paint out on some plastic {the backs from the stamps worked great}, pressed my stamp in the paint and then pressed onto the sleeve of my 4 dollar old navy tee.

after 5 minutes setting iron time, i threw this baby in the wash and it came out swimmingly. highly recommend this project based on it's ease of use, ability to spice up the ugliest of boring clothes, and it's general awesomeness. {if you guys have any questions let me have 'em.}

greetings from snowy syracuse!

ah, i'm back. no not back from vacation but it feels like it. minus the tan and the kitsch postcards. i spent the weekend experimenting with a couple of crafty projects and spending money at the outlets {while my husband was busy buying a 50" plasma tv that we so don't need but i heart a 32" mcdreamy}. yesterday my husband treated me to some spa treatments so i feel all pretty today. i'm even wearing nail polish. it's like i'm living in a parallel universe and my evil twin is sexy.

i did take some photos of my recent creativity, and i even took them step by step. it's so easy a caveman could do it. i screenprinted a couple of t-shirts and then i discovered stamping them! it's pure magic. well if magic was turning old navy basic cheap tees into fabulous works of fabric art. i'll list all the details in the next post...

more organization. we all know i love it. this is a little glimpse of where i'll be spending most of my weekend. hopefully creating some awesome cards for all you ladies along with some baby gifts and miscellaneous gifts which i cannot yet reveal. i plan to give screenprinting a try if the supplies aren't all that expensive and i might just pull out the sewing machine and throw together a couple of cute bags. ah, so much to do, so little weekend.

now's as bad a time as any

my poor friend krista has lost both her grandpa's in one week. so the florida trip must be post-poned. the bikini must once again be stored in the dark box in the closet. and the snow is once again falling. this may be one very, very long weekend. but not as long as krista's.

so here's an easier better plan. we all make a set of 2-4 cards {depending on how many people sign up. oh just put down the freaking knitting sticks for two seconds and stamp a card or buy some} and send out to whoever wants to participate. and just for fun i'm going to throw in sending a muzak CD to everyone as well.

i couldn't be more excited. except i came to a horrible realization yesterday. my flight is friday at 6am, which means i have to be at the airport at 5am, which means i have to get up at 4am-ish. which means i must go to bed at about 8pm. which means...wait for it....NO. GREY's. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh.

clear stamps that is. and i'm really excited about my weekend find. these little babies are a dollar a piece. one dollar! i've loved her stamps and wanted to buy the pack for months but it's a whopping 30 bucks! and all i really wanted was a couple of them. so i love this option of buying them individually. so does my allowance. i found them at jo-anns, they're autumn leaves by rhonna farrer. buy them. they rock. if you've never used clear stamps, start. they make everything better.

so yesterday i took a voluntary snow day. the middle photo was taken two days ago, the bottom one this morning. we've literally been DUMPed on. a big snowy pile of poo. but with all our snowed-in time we finished a few projects. the bathroom shelves are 95% done, since they're missing a piece of wood molding thanks to my inability to measure properly while in a home depot. next, we hung the shelves for the laundry room, finished the CD organization and even rearranged the kitchen a bit after i washed the floor. it was a productive day even if we were both at each other's throats. i guess two straight days of snow can do that to a person.

things actually done lastnight: trip to home improvement store, spackled crack in bathroom {no comments mb}, halfway through CD project {much too large to accomplish in one night}, return to craft store and dinner before 9.

day one of waking up butt-crack early to get to the gym. it's so hard to roll out of that warm toasty bed and face the 5 degree temps outside in the dark, BUT now that i did, i have the entire night to get things done. {notice the excitement in my lack of punctuation.} on the list: eat dinner sometime before 7pm, spackle and paint the bathroom shelves, trip to home improvement store, organize cd collection into logical orderly books {instead of messy illogical stacks scattered around the house}, bake delicious treats for vday at work and vacuum. loads of fun. this is what being a grown-up is all about people.

this is the scene in my front yard. there's supposed to be a brick walkway somewhere in there, but alas, it's no use shoveling it out now. this is what they mean when they say 'lake effect' snow. it's real people. and all because of some stupid lake. so i thank you lake ontario. thanks for nothing.

and in the news...

anna nichole smith died today. sure, she was a walking disaster, but still, it's sad. poor little baby that she just had. they don't even know who the dad is?! who's going to raise the poor kid? i wonder how long until E! airs her TrueHollywoodStory? what if this is TrimSpa's fault? it's something to think about.

in other news, we made the front page of cnn.com! well, until the above mentioned breaking news story pushed us to the sidebar. upstate new york gets hammered with lake-effect snows! yep, that's us. except we're about 30 miles south of the lake which means we lucked out and haven't been hit as bad as the towns the article talks about. they got 5 feet, we have a couple i'ld say. it's been non-stop snow all day long. our landscaping at home is completely covered and good luck finding the path to our front door. ah such is winter. 14 days until florida!

st. valencrap's day

one of the legends is that he was a man of the church who secretly wed young lovers during a time when the king banned marriage to insure better soldiers for his crusade. aww. that's so sweet. and probably total crap.

we don't normally celebrate v-day. i don't see the need to spend 70+ dollars {a guy at work is actually debating this...} on something that will wilt and fade within a week. no need. buy me something fun and digital and tiny and i'm happy. {i'm thinking my ipod shuffle definately qualifies} but this year i found the perfect for-him gift. i saw someone at the gym with it and i immediately though, that's awesome. i need to get him one. so i ordered it today. i thought a simple small gift and maybe a tiny card that he might read but will most definately throw away. and done. that's it. no stressing, worrying or frivelous spending. me: 1, valencrap day: 0.

guess who just ordered one of these bad boys. and at half the cost of what they retail. i heart gift certificates. sure, i have my 20G ipod, my tried and true do-it-all techie device that i cling to day and night, but i wanted this little baby to dedicate to the gym. teeny tiny lightweight muzak clipped to my shorty-shorts. so now i get to load it up with all my workout tunes, toss it in my bag and go. as soon as it gets here.

hunger hallucinations

i'm tired, it's late and i've stayed past 6 at work again. i'm in a hurry to get home and get dinner. i'm starving. i tend to snack less when i work hard, and it was one of those days. needless to say i was in no mood for the traffic that should not have been there at 6 pm. finally while stuck at a light i never get stuck at, i lose it and start yelling at everyone from safely inside my locked car. finally, we're moving, i gun it, and there it is. the delay, the issue, the problem. and i just stare in amazement. coming directly towards my car in the middle of the street is a man, in a wheelchair with an on-a-mission look in his eye. i swerve to avoid him and keep staring in my rearview. nobody beeped, everyone stared, some people were even smiling in wonderment. he kept going, 'driving' down the street in the wrong direction. and i though to myself, "i wonder if he's british?"

and then i thought, "man, i'm so hungry..."

i hate waking up at 3am for the sole purpose of hugging a toilet

i hate being unable to pig out on food due to above scenario
{which is the only reason i watch the stupid game anyway}

i hate not being able to cross off anything on my weekend to-do list

{i love my new 30 dollar coffee table, my supportive husband who's up with me at 3am telling me he loves me, vegging out and watching little miss sunshine, napping for 3 hours on a sunday afternoon, and most of all i love feeling better}
