pretty in pink

So this is my first blog post using blogger's new dashboard and adding the images direct from my desktop. If this works and I can avoid using flickr, I may just save myself loads of time and possibly post more! Well, when bebe's sleeping that is.

I decided I needed a new wet bag, something that zippered to keep the pee-pee smell of the cloth diapers confined so I started shopping for one on amazon. Unfortunately everything handmade is expensive, as it should be, but I didn't want to shell out the 40+ dollars so I went about making my own. This bag has a waterproof lining and the best part is it's completely custom and only cost me about 10-12 dollars, plus about an hour of my time.

I'm very happy with the way it turned out, and even happier with the way it's working. All that wet diaper smell is tucked away until I'm ready to do a load of laundry! And it'll go perfectly with my new homemade laundry detergent. My machine has been leaving mysterious gray stains on clothes washed in the hot cycle. Online suggestions blame build-up due to liquid detergents so I tried to find an all-natural powder detergent which is nearly impossible so I decided to make my own. I found the instructions {1 grated 5oz bar of soap, 1c arm & hammer washing soda, 1c borax} online but wasn't keen on using the fels-naptha {?} bar as suggested so I opted for an organic lavender castile bar and it smells amazing. I can't wait to see how it works! The hardest part really was grating down the soap, but it makes a pretty decent amount of detergent so I won't have to do it that often.

And since laundry is now my life, it just seems fitting to have it happy and stink-free.
