sweet melissa's

this pastry and ice cream shop (and smallish dinner and breakfast menu) is such a great place in our neighborhood (court street across from cobble hill theatre).

we had a fun thursday night, it was weekend material mid-week. first we met a friend of j's from work, went to the chip shop for some fish and chips and then to sweet mellisa's for some dessert. it's a bit of a hike from our apartment, especially in chilly weather like this BUT it was well worth it. the bread pudding is AWEsome. anyway, i grabbed a pic of this little corner of the shop (which is very martha stewartesque in general). i loved this table and the mix of black with brown wooden stools. it was very cozy and inviting, it made me want to host dinner parties in my made-up apartment in my imagination. (sorry about the bad pic but i didn't want to ruin the mood with a flash and well, i can't stay perfectly still for 3 seconds so the tabletop it was.)

oh! and they have their own cookbook with recipes for all the desserts they serve! cool right? so the next visitors we have will be subject to delicious desserts. i hope they won't be too upset.

remember when...

i had that contest? well this was the prize, a set of two bookmarks made by moi. i do love these bookmarks and they're so simple to make. congrats again to coral, even if it was like, forever ago.

and frankly my arms are sore from all the batting practice and tennis matches.

i give you an old photo of my dear friend carrie. and if this picture isn't remarkable enough, it was actually taken by my husband. he's a flare for good photography, no?

anyway, the weather has seemed to put me in a dreary mood. i just want to go home, curl up with a blanket and some hot cocoa and read a book. shouldn't it be spring by now?

from the trip. hurray for self timers. i like that this is an interesting angle and that blue sky just makes me wish i was still there. especially since we had snow in the city today. only for a few minutes, but still, snow.

after spending two days with the ever exciting, never dull krista we're bunking in a condo ON THE BEACH. so sometimes not having a plan is actually a very good plan.

what's whiter than white, transparent?

so i need a little sun. it's been so bitter cold here and we {last minute} planned a week-long trip to florida. so far we'll be meeting up with kareesta {YAY} and the in-laws, staying at justin's grandmother's place for most of the week, and hopefully spending plenty of time on a boat or by the water {but mostly, in the sun}.

i've already started packing and trying to figure out how fit i could get in just six days. it's also been another crazy week at work, thus the minimal blogging. i promise to not be so absent in the future, but not the immediate future...we fly out on saturday!
