Hotel Cafe Tour 2008
find a show near you here.
1: the cary brothers
2: joshua radin and me!
3: jeff and me!
4: priscilla ahn
5: ingrid michaelson
it was fantastic, thanks to this guy for telling me about it...which he'll never let me live down.
it was a great show, they all impressed. ahn was incredible, i really recommend her to everyone, she's got a CD coming out this summer i guess. i'm really a fan of these {smaller venue} shows because you get a real feel for these people and their personalities. joshua radin was really nice and he said 'hey' to kelly who got to meet him in ohio...and then there was this song about boobies.
what a nice way to spend a wednesday night! especially when you don't have to wake up the next morning for work, haha suckers....
new and improved!
new pendants!! ok, so a couple of weeks back, a friend mentioned she had worn her pendant in the shower {twice} and that after the second time it was toast. SO i decided to find a way to make them more durable. AND after some research and some tossed no-go's, here they are! new and improved! still so cute, but now they have a raised clear coating that protects them better from scratches or water or babies spit-soaked fingers...
they'll be up in the shop next week! i have several new designs including my favorite, that 'go green' tree, my own illustration....
i'm also raising the price by one dollar to $5 a piece. it sucks to pay more i know, but this new method requires more time and more supplies, so my cost has gone up. i'm fairly certain that the improvements will outweigh the increase {i even coated my own old pendants to keep them safe!}. what do you guys think? i really want to know....

the heights yo
so this is brooklyn, cute, no?
i think so. this is just one of the streets in the exact neighborhood we want to live in. and it's just over the bridge, so there's great views of manhattan from across the east river. we'll be heading back to nyc in a few weeks to seriously apartment hunt. last time was just for fun.
the sun has been out for three days in a row! it's amazing. it doesn't even feel like upstate ny. sure it's still cold, but there's this bright yellow glowing orb in the sky! seriously people, try living without the sun for a few weeks and then let me know how happy you are to see it.

a huge update for spring!!
the "maggie loves paris" tissue holder is probably my favorite, but the rings are a close second.
i did find a VERY serious permanent adhesive for the rings and bobbies. it's called E600 {?} but i wouldn't recommend it for anyone with kids, or pregnant, or living in a really small unventilated area since it STINKS. it smells so bad, i was pretty amazed. luckily, it was a fairly nice day so i could open the window and get some fresh air...but i tried and tried and tried to pull these things apart and they wouldn't budge. just to be double sure i'll be shipping the rings in little round tins to avoid ANY issues. i feel 100% confident in them this time.
and i know i was going to pull my shop down for a bit but now that we have more time, and i'm trying to destash my supplies, i figured i would make as much product as i could so it's less to move...good idea, no? i hung out with some friends friday night and i swear all i did was cut fabric and talk. it was productive and now my fabric mounds are just fabric stacks. it feels so much lighter. i feel lighter. and i'm back at the gym. it's feeling very productive around here lately....
oh and happy easter!!

new shoes for the trouble
so i'm back. and busier than ever. well, there's just a lot of things to mark off the to-do list as usual.
we didn't find a place to live BUT we have time yet. till May actually. i'm not stressing about it. i know i'll get a cute quaint apartment for way too much money in the exact part of town we want to live. it'll be fine. right?
a new gretta for the shop. she'll be there {probably} the beginning of next week. she's even better than her older sisters, she has two nice-sized pockets and an interior 'tinkerwiththis' tag. it's cute, take my word for it.
and those lovely new shoes? who could resist. kenneth coles on clearance. i love tjmax.

wow
we're leaving in about an hour for our house hunting trip in nyc {be back in oh, two weeks or so...}, hopefully we'll find a killer apartment within walking distance to his office. if not, i still like the box under the bridge idea. it could be very freeing to not pay rent...
i had a minor tweak done on my nose, i was happy with the results but there was one little thing bugging me, so with a little local novocaine and a snip snip sew, i'm back to that healing stage. luckily i only lost wednesday and yesterday and today have been fairly productive around the house.
and AND i finally finished jen's diaper bag. it was killer but it's done and unless i really really love you, you will NOT get a custom diaper bag if you choose to reproduce any time soon. the end product is adorable but i have to say, i'm looking forward to the break from my machine. now, if i could just find a box it would fit in...
when i get back i PROMISE to have tons of picture posts and a lot more interesting stuff to tell you about. so the camera cards are clean, the ipod's loaded and i'm off....
{oh AND i did actually find a glue that could pretty much hold a house to it's foundation, SO very soon i'll have more cute things in the shop which is not getting pulled this month due to having an additional 4 wks to move...more on that later...}
